Carcassonne. Le Cité, the old city

Carcassonne is located along the highway from Toulouse to Narbonne.

La Cité de Carcassonne is the finest example of a virtually completely preserved medieval European city. That is why it rightfully appears on the UNESCO World Heritage list. As a result, millions of tourists visit this unique city every year.

There is plenty to do in the Cité. There are countless souvenir shops.
Cafés, restaurants, and cozy terraces invite you for a drink or a 'menu du jour'.
You keep looking around and taking photos. Afterwards, you can walk around the city.
The view is overwhelming.

With a bit of luck, you might also encounter the Russian vocal quartet in the large church.

The fireworks on July 14th are famous.
Finally: In July, there is always the Festival de Carcassonne with all kinds of artists. A major event with circus, opera, classical music, dance, theater, and humor. Both French national and international singers perform.
