Labouiche Underground River

In the municipality of Vernajoul, 33 km from the park, lies the starting point of the longest navigable underground river in Europe.

This river was only discovered in 1908. The boat is propelled manually by the guide.

 

The trip is one and a half kilometers long and you have to change boats once along the way. You will be amazed by beautiful scenery of waterfalls and stalactites.

An excursion is truly worthwhile.

 

Important: wear sturdy shoes and warm clothing, and good physical condition is necessary.

 

The nature in the Ariège is overwhelmingly beautiful. The rolling hills almost make you feel like you are in Tuscany, while in the background you can see the high peaks of the Pyrenees. There are fast-flowing mountain streams, remarkable caves, and beautiful reservoirs.
